GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
- Cashew kernels must be properly dried, have a characteristic shape, and be graded or processed in stages. There must be no oil on the cashew shell, the percentage of kernels with remaining shell must not be more than 1.5% by weight. The diameter of the shell fragments still attached to the nucleus must not exceed 2 mm.
- Cashew kernels must be free of live pests, insect corpses, mold, and must not be contaminated with the naked eye or use a hand-held magnifying glass with a magnification of about 10 times, if necessary. Cashew kernels must have a natural smell and must not have a rancid smell or other strange odors.
- The moisture content of cashew kernels must not be greater than 5% by weight.
- Each level of cashew kernels must not contain more than 5% of the adjacent lower level kernels, calculated by volume, and must not contain more than 5% of broken kernels at packaging, calculated by volume.
MOISTURE CONTENT: The moisture content of cashew kernels should not be greater than 5% by weight.
